U3A of Highbridge

OPEN DAY

Wednesday 21st November 2018
10.00 am until 1.30 pm

We have many Groups and with everyone’s support and participation we can make this event as successful as the last one.

We wish to again have demonstrations, displays and information from each Group where this is applicable; and you may wish to sell some items. Would Group Leaders please let me know what tables, etc. you will need. There is a shortage of display boards for the tables, so if you are able to supply your own that would help or should you know anyone who would loan us a few it would be appreciated.

Light lunches will be available e.g. Soup, Ploughman’s, Tea, Coffee, Cake etc., for a cost of £2.50.

As fund raisers we will have Tombola and Cake Stalls, etc. So donations for these would be gratefully accepted.

Three dates have been arranged for Cream Teas this year:

Tuesday July 17th
Tuesday August 21st
Monday September 17th

Venue for all is Highbridge Community Hall at 3.30pm.

Cost is £3.00 for each cream tea.

A new Theatre Trip has been added to the calendar—’Cats’ at the Weston-Super-Mare Playhouse on Saturday October 27th 2018. Coach leaves Highbridge Community Hall at 1pm. Cost is £21.00.

Walking group programme for June to September 2018 has been added to the Walking Group page.

Also, Walking Group has changed from two days per month to just the 3rd Friday of every month.

There will be an EGM (Emergency General Meeting) during the Coffee Morning on Wednesday June 13th at 11 AM. This is expected to be a short meeting.

Walk 18^th May

 Please note that we have changed the published walk on the 18^th May.  It will now start from the lay by at Black Rock (Grid Reference ST482546) at the top of Cheddar Gorge instead of the YMCA carpark at Street.  We will also be meeting up an hour earlier than usual (9.00am) at Bank Street Car Park and hope to start the walk around 9.30am.

We have 2 twin and 1 double room available for Liverpool. We depart Highbridge on 23rd April 2018 for a 4 night 5 day break staying at the 4 star Mercure Hotel, Bed, Breakfast and evening meal. Day coach trips included £235.00 per person. 

We also have Twin Rooms available for a 4 night 5 day break at Bournemouth Sands Hotel, Bournemouth on the 11th September 2018 cost £215.00, coach travel, half board, live Evening Entertainment. Coach Day trips available at small extra charge.

On Wednesday 22nd November 2017 there will be a Sale of Work during the usual Coffee Morning (10am to 12pm).

We intend to again produce a Hamper similar to last year’s and are inviting all members to donate suitable items. The draw will take place during the Coffee Morning on Wednesday 6th December; the items will therefore be required not later than Wednesday 29th November so that the hamper may be produced; plus additional baskets as last year, if a surplus of items are donated.

Liverpool holiday

Staying at the Mercury Atlantic Tower 4 star Hotel in a Prime City Location from the 23rd April to the 27th April for £235.00 p.p. Plus single supplement.

Price includes Coach travel from Highbridge to Liverpool and return, Half Board ensuite accommodation and Coach day trips.

We have 1 double or twin room available. No single rooms left.
